The James R. Clark Foundation is hosting a walk on Saturday, September 27th, beginning at 8 AM with on-site registration at 7:30 AM. 

James R. Clark Foundation is an organization that focuses on optimizing the social, psychological, and physiological well-being of individuals with sick cell disease and to decrease the incidence of sickle cell disease through genetic screening, counseling, and education. To support their mission and cause, you or your team can participate in this walk!

Volunteer: Tutor Student Athletes with the West Columbia Tigers Organization!

The Lexington County Youth Sports Association (LCYSA) and the West Columbia Tigers (WCT) is a non-profit dedicated to providing safe, constructive programs that empower the youth in our communities. Their mission is to support young individuals in academics and athletics by offering opportunities for growth, exposure, and development. 

They are committed to fostering leadership, sportsmanship, and personal excellence grounded in strong spiritual foundation. Their tutoring program is looking for volunteers to meet every Wednesday evening from 6-7 PM to support student athletes (cheer, football, basketball, baseball, track & motor club) from gradesK-8th grade in the area of reading and/or math. 

Location: Brookland Health & Wellness Center, 1050 Sunset Blvd., W. Columbia SC 29169 (Arts & Crafts Room)

Time Commitment: Up to 3 hours per week

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Spanish Language Document Translator to help make critical resources accessible to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. In this role, you will translate client-facing documents, including forms, guides, and informational handouts, from English to Spanish. This position is ideal for native or fluent Spanish speakers who want to use their language skills to support our community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Translate documents (e.g., Releases of Information, “how-to” guides, flyers) from English to Spanish with accuracy and cultural sensitivity.

Ensure translations are clear, professional, and easy to understand for native Spanish speakers, maintaining the correct tone (formal or conversational as needed).

Work with staff to prioritize documents in greatest need of translation.

Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive client information.

Complete assigned translations within agreed timelines (generally up to 3 hours per week).

Communicate with staff regarding progress, questions, or clarifications.

Successfully complete a background check prior to beginning service.
