BE THE VOICE!
The Vulnerable Adult Guardian ad Litem Program of South Carolina (VAGAL SC) is looking for dedicated volunteers to advocate for vulnerable adults, ages 18 and older, who are often victims of abuse, neglect, or exploitation and are in protective custody. As a VAGAL volunteer, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable adults.
You'll build relationships with the adults and interact with their families, caregivers, social workers, and healthcare providers. Your role will involve gathering important information about the adult's situation, exploring solutions to improve their well-being, and providing impartial recommendations to the South Carolina Family Court.
Training includes a 1-day session, available either virtually or in-person, followed by two shadowing opportunities where you'll observe other Guardians ad Litem (GAL) in court.
We welcome and encourage volunteers from all professions and educational backgrounds. Your involvement can make a difference.
