Who We Are
The Newberry County Literacy Council offers a variety of programs and classes, ranging from Pre-GED preparation to basic reading and math skills. Services offered include, but are not limited to: Reading, Writing, Math, English, Spanish, Pre-GED Tutoring, Computer Skills, Reading Comprehension Literacy and Tax Assistance (VITA). Volunteers are trained to assist learners in these areas.
Once our learners have mastered basic skills, we refer them to the Newberry County Adult Education Center where they may continue their learning.
What We Do
The mission of the Newberry County Literacy Council is to provide a program that will enable adults to read, write and speak English, and to compute and solve problems at levels of proficiency necessary to function on the job and in society.
