Description

The Arc of South Carolina is proud to be a part of the Corporation for National and Community Service’s (CNCS) MLK Day of Service initiative. Our PB&J event is designed to be a fun way to engage people with and without disabilities to help meet the need for food assistance in our community. On MLK Day, when many food banks and soup kitchens are closed, we will hold our fourth annual Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich-Making Competition at the University of South Carolina. Last year, over 400 volunteers of all backgrounds, abilities, and ages came together to make over 4,500 PB&J's that were donated to local food assistance organizations that serve individuals who are experiencing hunger and homelessness in the Columbia, SC area. Come volunteer to make lasting memories, friendships, and walk away with some cool prizes!

When: Martin Luther King Day, January 20th from 10:00am-1:00pm

Where: The Russell House Ballroom at the University of South Carolina (1400 Greene Street Columbia, SC 29201)

Why on MLK day? We honor the life of Martin Luther King Jr. through a "day on, not a day off" by volunteering throughout our communities. This day of service is intended to empower individuals, strengthen communities, bridge barriers, create solutions to social problems, and move us closer to Dr. King's vision of a "Beloved Community."

If you feel led to, please bring donations of peanut butter, jelly, and sliced bread!

Can't attend but still want to help? Donations are greatly appreciated!
