We are looking for volunteers to administer Point in Time Count surveys to individuals experiencing homelessness focusing on the areas around the Richland Library Main branch.
The PIT Count serves two functions: First, to count the number of people experiencing homelessness over a specified period. Second, to gather information on the demographics and service needs of the local homeless population.
Through a snapshot of homelessness, the PIT Count will help us to better understand homelessness and housing needs. With successive counts, we can measure our progress in ending homelessness in our community.
PIT Count Team Leader Duties (if you are interested in being the Team Lead for your group/area, please express this interest in the NOTE section provided when you sign up to volunteer):
- Act as spokesperson for the team and serve as the Point of Contact.
- Answer any questions/concerns that volunteers have prior to beginning Count (Refer other issues to Homeless Services Coordinator)
- Must be familiar with the assigned locations
- Must have at least 1 year experience as a PIT Count Volunteer.
- Must be at least 18 years old
PIT Count Volunteer:
- Search for unsheltered homeless within designated location
- Survey individuals experiencing homelessness
- Provide individuals who have been surveyed with incentives
- Must be at least 16 (those under 18 years old will need a parent/guardian permission and they must also serve as a Volunteer)
