What it is: Twenty percent of South Carolinians over the age of 60 are food insecure, meaning over 200,000 older adults are at risk of hunger and malnutrition. During the summer months, senior meal delivery doesn’t take a break or go on vacation. Volunteers are still needed to deliver meals to homebound seniors.
Why: AARP defines “Aging in Place” as simply a matter of preserving the ability for people to remain in their home or neighborhood as long as possible. When senior meals are delivered, it increases the nutritional and social health required for our seniors to remain independent and age in place.
What we need: Volunteers are needed to deliver meals to homebound seniors in Orangeburg County this summer. If you are interested in volunteering to serve, please respond to this need and we will connect you with the non-profit agency that can use your help.
