The YMCA of Columbia Race to Remember is a 5K Run/Walk and Kids1-Mile Fun Run that takes place in Historic Downtown Columbia on Saturday, May 24. This race is great for all levels of ability and ages. Participants are encouraged to carry a flag or wear dog-tags to remember and honor military personnel who gave the ultimate sacrifice to serve the United States of America.
All race proceeds support the Y’s Annual Campaign, which provides financial assistance to those who need the Y’s life-changing programs and services the most. Part of the proceeds from this year’s race will go towards YMCA Membership Scholarships for Veterans. The Y also offers reduced membership for military personnel through our partnership with Fort Jackson.
VOLUNTEERS will assist in directing runners for the event need to arrive at the downtown location between 7:15-7:25. Runners will be driven or directed to their spot to direct runners. Feel free to bring a folding or tailgate chair to use during the race. Volunteers will report to YMCA CEO, Jim Vietti. His contact information is below.
