The Women's Shelter needs our help in the office, preparing and mailing out their newsletter. They are looking for 4 volunteers each shift from 9:00 - 11:30 AM and 1:00 - 3:00 PM on April 10th and April 11th.
A Women in Philanthropy 2017 grant recipient, The Women’s Shelter helps women build stronger lives. In order to provide residents with the tools and skills needed to become healthy, safe, and self-sufficient, The Women’s Shelter offers a variety of educational and support programs for women who are currently homeless to stabilize their emotionally, mentally, and in recovery. The Women’s Shelter is using the WIP grant investment to assist homeless women with overcoming obstacles that keep them from accessing higher education, skilled jobs, and affordable housing through an experiential training program.
In addition to office help, The Women's Shelter is also in need of the following items:
- laundry detergent
- 13 gallon trash bags
- Lysol spray
- Clorox wipes
Donations may be dropped off at United Way of the Midlands (1818 Blanding Street) front desk (tell the receptionist it's for WIP) or The Women's Shelter directly (3425 N. Main Street).
