Join Women in Philanthropy as we prep meals at Transitions Homeless Center.

This is a great way to get involved and give back to your community during your lunch break or after work! 

Meals Service at Transitions (2025 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29201)

Parking
For breakfast and lunch, there are parking meters nearby on Calhoun Street and Main Street.
You can park in the parking lot at Transitions if serving dinner.

The Transitions parking lot will also be available to volunteers serving on the weekend.

Please enter through Calhoun Street.
Please let the front desk know that you a meal service volunteer and are reporting to the kitchen.

1. Volunteers will need to sign a Transitions client confidentiality form which is at the front security desk
at Transitions.
2. Volunteers must complete a Salvation Army Volunteer Form & Waiver which is in a notebook at the
kitchen/office for each shift so participation can be tracked.
3. Volunteers will need to complete a Salvation Army Volunteer Application for Pandemic Relief
Services.
4. Volunteers should report to Salvation Army kitchen manager, or designate.

Breakfast (4 volunteers needed per shift)
Volunteers should plan on arriving at 6:30am.
Service is 7:00-7:45 pm

Lunch (Extended to pack meals to go – 4 volunteers needed per shift)
Volunteers should plan on arriving at 11:15am.
Service is 12:00-1:15pm

Dinner (Extended to pack meals to go – 4 volunteers needed per shift)
Volunteers should plan on arriving at 4:45 pm.
Service is 5:30-6:45 pm

Volunteer Duties
Packing to go meals
Other tasks as assigned such as cleaning, dusting, sweeping, mopping, dating food items, putting like items together, rolling silverware, making sandwiches for upcoming meals and other tasks that may be necessary

Dress Code
· Wear comfortable closed toe shoes.
· Bring your own mask.
· Gloves will be provided.
· No sandals or flip flops.
· No shorts, skirts or sleeveless shirts.
· Wear a baseball cap. Otherwise, a hairnet will be required and provided.
· Use good judgment and dress appropriately.

Volunteers must be 16 or older.
