DATE: Friday, October 30, 2020
TIME: 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
LOCATION: C.R. Neal Dream Center 2430 Atlas Road Columbia, SC 29209
With the support of generous community partners, the Joseph H. Neal Health Collaborative (JHNHC) will host two Food and Staples Share drives in the Lower Richland area of Columbia.
We will kick off the series of events on October 30, 2020 along with our collaborators, Harvest Hope Food Bank, multiple nonprofit organizations, and various Community Pastors.
The second event will occur the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Food insecurity is the most egregious of social issues, and COVID-19 has further exacerbated the disparity. Both of those crises, food insecurity and COVID-19, deepen negative health outcomes among low-income, Black, and other marginalized populations.
The Food and Staples Share is just one way JHNHC intends to fulfill our mission of addressing "social injustice & health inequity within low income and marginalized populations through faith, collaboration, and resources to help build & empower thriving communities."
These offerings are the first step in an emerging and expanding collective strategy intended to reverse negative trends and predictors within vulnerable communities.
We are committed to joint efforts with community partners, collaborators, nonprofit organizations, for-profit entities, and governmental authorities that are trained toward understanding the needs, deficits, and barriers to health related quality of life and general well-being for low-income, Black women, men, teens, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community and all other marginalized groups.
