Giddy up! United Way of the Midlands’ Always United is hosting the United Pony Express. Local third-grade students and volunteers will write letters to each other in this pen pal program. This is a great opportunity for elementary students in our community to grow their writing skills. Students will write an initial letter assigned by their teacher and volunteers will respond to the student during their chosen time slot. Volunteers can commit to one time only or once a month for the school year. This can be an easy and socially distanced way to encourage children in the Midlands to building their writing skills in a fun way!
Participate by signing up for a date and time you would like to pick up/drop off your letters. You can come any time during the shift to pick up, write and drop off letters. This volunteer opportunity will be held outside. The inclement weather plan will be communicated, if need be. Once you sign up, you will then be contacted for further instructions.
